Happy Holidays!

Well I got through Christmas and had a really nice Christmas this year, soon it will be the New Year!  Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Wishing all my Friends and Followers a Happy New Year.  What is everyone doing for New Years?

Do you go out to a Dinner Dance? Outdoors Celebration? Do you stay at home and have friends over to ring in the New Year and watch the ball drop on TV? Go to Church? ell me what you are doing this year.
I haven't made any plans as of yet but have some ideas in the making.

When it comes  to the new year do you make New Years Resolutions?
My New Years Resolution is to lose weight and get into shape.  I also want to go back to school and advance myself. I need to re educate myself before entering back into the workforce.

I am going to look into the new YMCA that is in my city and join it.  I wont have a personal trainer so I will need to push myself until I get into a routine of working out again.  I am excited and looking forward to going.  There is a new one that was just built so I think I will call and make an appointment to take the tour to see what it has to offer me and then get a membership.

Sometimes I make resolutions but end up not keeping them but this year I intend to follow through.
The second thing I want to do is quit smoking.  This will be the bigger battle for me but I know when I start working out this will help me to quit smoking.  I need to find more non-smoking friends to help me through the process.

Well I want to thank all that have been following my blog and supporting me and I will be doing more giveaways in the New Year.

Whatever you choose to do for New Years  enjoy it and stay safe!

Christmas time and pets

When it comes to Christmas some people like to dress up their pets.  I have a Siamese cat and he is kinda bah humbug when it comes to dressing him up he is not crazy about accessories.  My boyfriend bought him an outfit and we got the hat and collar on but he refused to put the jacket on.  By the picture you can tell he was not impressed.  It was fun trying to dress him up!
Christmas is a great time of year for pets.  I always get my cat Caesar a stocking and put it under the tree. I also pick him up a catnip toy with his stocking,  He just loves catnip!  He loves getting presents and enjoys trying to open presents that are not his that are under the tree as well.  I am glad he doesn't try to climb my tree or play with the ornaments.  I know some peoples cats like to do that so I am fortunate that way.
I think it is cute when people dress up their pets.  My neighbour dresses up her dog in outfits right down to little booties and he looks so cute.  It reminded me of the movie I seen called Legally Blonde but the neighbours outfit didn't match the dogs.
Do you have any pets?  Do you have a cat or dog?  Do you dress them up?

Are you Ready for Christmas?

I have been on Facebook and people are posting a countdown until Christmas.  I am generally one of these shoppers that plan ahead and generally would be ready by now, for some reason I am not prepared or ahead of the game this year.  I have started my Christmas shopping but will be late at getting it done this year.  I can't believe that Christmas is only 38 days away!  I hear Christmas music on the radio and see the Christmas stuff in the store.  I think it is a bit early for the stations to play Christmas music.
What are you thoughts on this?
I even have my Christmas tree up already as it always helps to get me into the Christmas mood. Here is a picture of my Christmas tree.
I love Christmas as it is my  most favourite time of the year.  Everyone seems to be happy and treats everyone nice at Christmas.  My favourite thing about Christmas is the lights.  I also love the Christmas treats like short bread cookies.  My least favourite thing is last minute shopping and the packed parking lot at the mall and the line ups and stress on what to buy someone and it not being in stock.

When do you start your Christmas shopping?  Are you one that plans ahead or waits until the last minute to shop?  What is your favourite thing about the Christmas holiday season?

Costume Discounters Review-"Spank Me I'm Irish" Costume

I received a lovely costume to review, I chose "Spank Me I'm Irish" because I thought I would get more use out of it.  I love that it is green and is cute and a fun piece to wear. This is going to be fun to wear for Halloween and I love wearing costumes for my boyfriend as he really enjoys them as well. The costume comes in a Small, Medium and Large and I chose the Large which is 140 pounds to 160 pounds  as I have some curves. The company does fast shipping on the products.
The packaging the the outfit came in was a plastic sleeve with a hanger on it to hang it up or you can store it in a dresser.  I always keep the package as it keeps my costumes clean when I pack them in my trunk. The company that makes this costume is Dreamgirl which makes excellent quality products

When I received my package in the mail I was so excited to open it.  The costumes is great quality and sewn well. There are 6 pieces to the costume which include the strapless dress which has an attached belt ,  2 puff arm sleeves, a tall hat, a riding crop and a pot of gold purse.  The costume did not include the white thigh highs as shown in the picture but can be purchased separately.  You may want to wear tights or leggings with the outfit. The dress is short but a reasonable length, as you can see in the picture. The costumes are true to size so which makes life easier when ordering them.    The costume is made of 100 percent polyester and needs to be hand washed in cold water and hung to dry. When you wear the costume there is no built in bra so you will need to wear a strapless bra.  The material was soft, silky and the dress has felt like clovers sewn on it which I thought was really cute.  The material was solid so you cannot see through it.  Also the costume material has a stretch to it so if you are a size bigger it would fit. The hat is soft and comfy to wear and constructed well, the belt on the hat is attached to it, the pot of gold purse is soft and small, the riding crop is small and adds a little fun to the outfit.  There is a zipper in the back and it is a strong durable one.

I have been pricing out costumes and Costume Discounters have the best prices and the best quality from what I have seen.  I just love my costume and am going to have lots of fun wearing it.  I would highly recommend purchasing from them.

The costume retails for $39.97 plus there are promotions and discounts on right now that you wont want to miss out on. They also have some amazing clearance items as well.
Costume Discounters have costumes for Men, Women, Teens, Toddlers and Infants  for all year round.

Check them out here on Facebook or on Twitter

I know you will be glad you did!

Happy Shopping!!!!

Stay Hydrated-Drink Water

I read a great article and wanted to share it with you as I found it interesting. My mother died of dehydration so staying hydrated is very important to me.

Water is the foundation of all life and its value to our bodies is immeasurable. In fact, we are made up of nearly 70 per cent water! Many of our basic metabolic processes, such as the regulation of body temperature, require enormous amounts of water – up to three litres daily.
Even breathing expels up to a pint of water every day. Keeping your body functioning at an optimal level is necessary for physical and mental well-being, and proper hydration is essential to that.
As mentioned, daily bodily functions account for significant water loss. For example, your feet have 250,000 sweat glands and can lose half a pint of water on a normal day! If you’re exercising regularly, this amount can increase to 2.4 litres (five pounds) per hour! Imagine what that translates to when you include all of the sweat glands in our bodies, all of the metabolic functions, and any other processes that consume water.
How much is enough?
We’ve all heard that we should drink eight to ten glasses of water every day, but this is just a guideline. We are all unique. To help you stay as hydrated as you need to be, here’s a guiding formula: drink 50 to 75 per cent of your body weight in ounces, depending on how much activity you get daily. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds, 70 ounces of water is optimal if you are sedentary and 105 ounces is best, if you are active. This means that at 140 pounds, you should be drinking a minimum of nine cups of water daily – 13 if you are getting regular exercise!
Reinvent your water
If you find plain tap water boring or unsatisfying, spice it up anyway you like. The internet is full of cool, quenching ideas, but here are a few of my favourite suggestions:
  1. Add Flavor and Fibre: Freeze some blueberries, mangos, or sliced peaches and add them to your water. This will not only sweeten it, but eating the fruits will also give you a tasty boost of fibre, vitamins and minerals. Fibre is important because it helps digestive functioning, lowers cholesterol, and, according to more recent studies, may even help prevent certain types of cancer.
  2. Emergen C: This powdered mix adds a kick of flavour and nutrients to your water. There are a variety of flavours you can choose from, and each conveniently sized packet contains a blend of seven ascorbates (types of Vitamin C), seven B vitamins, which keep your energy levels up, and 32 active minerals, antioxidants, and other micronutrients to refresh and energize you.
  3. Ester-C Individual Pack: This mix has a host of beneficial properties. Ester-C is a great source of vitamins C and B and also contains precious electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. This formula provides your body with the nutrients necessary to keep you energized and feeling great, and helps maintain muscle function, support bones, cartilage, teeth, gums, and even healthy skin.
  4. Get creative: These are only a few suggestions and of course you should explore options that satisfy your taste buds and bodily needs.
Symptoms of Dehydration
The effects of dehydrations are numerous and can range from mild, like feeling thirsty, to more severe, like delirium and even death. Dehydration is a serious condition which is easily prevented simply by getting plenty of water.
You should be conscious of dehydration when you feel any of the following symptoms:
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle weakness
  • Poor concentration
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Decreased sweating
It is important to note that even when you’re feeling thirsty, or your skin is dry, your body is trying to tell you that it is already dehydrated. At this point you should amp up your water intake to prevent further, more serious dehydration. Only you know how much water you need to keep your body happy, healthy, and energized, but following the above mentioned guidelines will help you hydrate more effectively.

Battles in life make you stronger!

I have been diagnosed with Cancer of the T-cells and skin and have been going through treatment for this three times a week to Toronto. The Cancer I have is called Mycosis Fungoides. I am doing good and treatments are successful. I am not working due to my diagnosis and treatments.
Due to not working and having more time on my hands I have lots of time to reflect on my life and think.  I am learning which people(friends) I can count and are there for me.
I know I can count on my family and some of my friends. I am also making some new friends along the way.

One of my friend was an inspiration to me and told me to keep everyone in my life that is positive, surround myself with positive and keep the negative out of my life.  Life is like a garden and you need to weed it out so that your life can grow and flourish. I am working on that and am feeling good about it!
My faith in God has also helped through this journey.  Many new people are entering my life and are inspiring me.  I have had many positive people with kind words of encouragement, prayers and support and I appreciate it!

This hardship in my life is making me a stronger and wiser person. I should be done treatment by the end of October and will return to work.

One of my favourite quotes is that  "If God brings you to it he will bring you through it" and I believe it!

Thanks for listening to me.
Remember to encourage one another.

Hope lifter-Book Review

“You cannot open a book without learning something.”
― Confucius

I had the opportunity to receive this book called Hopelifter by Kathe Wunnenberg to read and review and  it was an enjoyable book.  We can all offer hope to someone we know by supporting them as they are going through trying times, crisis or hardships in their life. Many of books I have read in the past are generally to encourage us but this book goes beyond that and shows you how to reach out to others when they are needing encouragement in their lives. This book will lift your hope and is a great inspiration and teaching tool to help us see needs in others lives and shows us ways to meet others needs.
Sometimes when we are going through our own struggles and hardships in life we sometimes can get self absorbed.  There are other people in our life that may have a need and we all have God given talents to use to minister and help others.

This book was very enlightening. eye opening and encouraging and a great teaching tool!

My mother used to say when she was having a bad day, whether she felt discouraged, or stressed or whatever it was she would go and take someone a pie, soup or whatever she made.  That was her ministry or talent to cook and bake.  In doing so she would be blessed, she was giving hope or being a hope lifter.
In order to receive a blessing from God in our life we need to sometimes be a blessing.  I know sometimes myself I get in a rut and was in one but am so glad this book helped get me out of it.

We all have talents that are God given and we should tap into them and use them to encourage others and give hope.

Be Blessed and be a Blessing!

If you are interested in getting your hands on this book to read or give to someone click below.

LePage Super Glue

I had the opportunity to test out this glue by LePage and found this stuff is just amazing!
I had lots of projects to glue and this couldn't have come at a better time.
The glue is water and heat resistant and can be used on metal, ceramic, leather, rubber and wood. The bottle  has a self piercing tube to apply it and sets in seconds. I liked that it is an ultra gel so it was not runny and easy to apply as well.

This glue was fast setting and you only needed a couple of drops to do the job. Make sure to wear latex gloves and place what you are glueing on a plastic bag or piece of cardboard.
I started by testing it out on a marble top that broke and it set it in a minutes time. Below is the finished product, it worked like a charm! My mother always said a picture is worth a thousand words so here they are.

I also used this on a candle stick that was made of ceramic and it glued it wonderfully!

Now wait...the best is yet to come!  I bought a used patio set this summer and the chairs had a rubber webbing on the seats and there was one chair that a piece of the webbing came loose.  The lady I bought it off of told me you can buy replacement webbing but the clips that came with the webbing could not be replaced as I looked everywhere in search of these clips and couldn't find any.  These clips hook on the webbing and lock into the chair to hold the seat together and I was discouraged.  So I thought why not try the glue and glue it.  Well was I surprised, it held with a firm grip.  A friend came over and she is a larger lady and she sat in the chair and it held well.

This is another project I did.  I glued the front piece on my cup holder that had broke off.  I used clothes pins just to hold it in place until it dried.  I was very happy with the results.  And after I glued this I cleaned my car as I seen by the pictures it was in need of a clean, heehee!

So if you need to do any gluing I would highly recommend Le Page Super Glue.
It is strong, durable, quick drying and stands the test.
For myself when it comes to a gluing job this is my only go to glue.

TRUE FRIENDS

Friends come and go but TRUE friends are always there through the good times and bad!

As I posted in my last article about a condition I was going through, you find out who your true friends are.  I used to have lots of friends when the times were good but when times are tough, whether you are going through a financial battle, emotional battle or physical battle a true friend will try to be understanding and be there when the going gets tough.  I don't have lots of friends any more but I have a few TRUE ones and that is all you really need in life!

We don't always want to go through battles but when we do we gain a new perspective in life on many things and gain more insight and direction.

I believe that people are brought in our life to teach us lessons or to help and be an encouragement to us or us to them. When someone crosses our path we can learn from them and vice versa.
I have found that since I told a few people about my battle some of my friends have fallen by the wayside in life but I am being blessed with other people that are being brought into my life that are encouraging to me.

I hope you are blessed with true friends and encourage the ones you have!

My Battle Equals Victory!

I just wanted to share about a battle I am going through.  I went to the doctors and had a patch on my hip and it was dry and flaky, I had this for many years but my Father and Mother both had Psoriasis so I just figured that is what it was.  It started out the size of a dime and got bigger over the years.
A few years ago I went to my family doctor and he froze it and took a small cut of it and sent to the skin centre to be analysed.  I  went back for the results 3 weeks later and he said it was eczema.  I thought that was kind of odd as there is no eczema in my family history but just shrugged it off and got creams and stuff for it.  It never went away but faded a bit so I just figured it was fine.
I noticed it getting bigger and I went to the doctor in March of this year as I had an appointment and I told him I have to see a dermatologist.  He sent me to one, at the appointment I told her that my doctor dissected it and sent it away for testing and the results were eczema.  She told me that the tests were inconclusive as he didn't take a proper specimen.  I was a bit surprised so she froze me and sent my sample away for analysis.  I went back 3 weeks later and she told me I had Cancer(Mycosis Fungoides).  I asked her what it was and she told me this is cancer of the skin and t cells in the lymph nodes. and then she told me just to research on the internet.  I was in SHOCK when she told me !  In the meantime other things in my life was going on like getting ready to move.  I was glad to find a diagnosis for what I had on one hand but on the other hand I was scared.  It answered a lot of questions as to why I felt fatigued for the past year as I didn't understand why I felt the way I did.  Another symptom of this condition is night sweats which I had been having but I figured because I was in Menopause that this is why I was having night sweats.  I was so stressed out at work that I had to take a leave.  I went to Toronto to the Women's Health Center to see a specialist and the treatments are set up for August.  I have to have 30 treatments of light therapy.  So I have to commute to Toronto 3 times a week(Mon, Wed, Fri ) for 10 weeks and after I will be checked.
When I found this news out I went to work and felt sick and stressed, I felt alone and isolated with this condition.  Some people do not understand what you are going through and think you are fine because you look alright.  I have felt terrribly fatigued with this condition and have started taking vitamins to help me through this.
When I felt scared to hear the word Cancer I though of a scripture that gave me peace.  It is If God brings you to it he will bring you through it.  After I read this I had the reassurance inside of me and  I knew that I was going to be alright.
Without a Battle there is no Victory!!
Remember if you are battling Cancer you are not alone, there are people that do care and are survivors. I met a few people that have encouraged me through this ordeal. Try to stay positive to get you through and avoid any negativity in your life!
I have my days when I feel down and don't feel good but I know I will make it and everything is going to be alright.  This is just a storm cloud in life and the storm will pass and the sun will shine again!
One day at a time.

~Remember sometimes people can look good on the outside but you don't know what is going on in the inside of them so never judge by someone's appearance~
~Try to be sensitive to others as they may be going through a strong storm in their life.  Try to be a blessing and Encourage them~

I hope that my story encourages or inspires someone and remember you are not alone!
If you have any comments please share them below if you would like or send me an email at mammasplace@hotmail.com I would love to hear from you.

~Have a Blessed day! ~

How to Repurpose Clip-on Hoop Earrings

Here is the end result of my window!

I moved into a house and found that I had nothing to put on this window.  There was already a blind there and I thought about how I could make this window look nicer.  I had a piece of material  that was originally a sheer curtain so I thought it would make a nice window scarf by hanging i it sideways  I originally had it tied on the corners with black hair elastics and they were hooked on two push pin tacks. but the elastics dried out and it started sagging,so I thought what can I use that is stronger and more durable,  Then I had an idea!

I had a pair of silver clip-on earrings and thought I would try them on this project, they worked perfectly.  I clipped them on each corner of the scarf and hung each earring on the push pin tack that was on  the corner of the top of the window. This worked out great and I got to recycle things I already had around the house.  I love decorating on a dime but like to have a nice finished look.  Next project is painting the room as I am not crazy about the colour/

Its amazing what you can create once you start thinking and planning and getting your creative juices flowing/
I was happy with the end result of this project.

What do you think of  the project ?  I would love to get  your feedback!

Make a Skirt out of Long Sleeve Button up Shirt

Do you often find yourself throwing out shirts or donating them because you don't wear them any more? I know I have in the past but will definitely try this project first and see how it turns out and looks on me. I found this video and am stoked on creating a skirt now.
I totally love the idea of creating your own and recycling your clothes to make something new.  I wanted to share this with everyone!
Watch the video and let me know what your thoughts are on this.

Crest Pro-Health Review-Use these products for a Healthy Mouth!

I have been using my Crest Pro-Health Products that I received and I totally love them.  I am now sold on this brand. @Crest Pro-Health. The toothpaste was a nice minty flavour, not to overpowering, texture was a good consistency. It  made my teeth feel plaque free and wonderfully clean. My teeth look a bit brighter as well.  The Crest Pro-Health Rinse  made my whole mouth feel clean and germ free.  I hate to admit it but lately I have a bit of bad breath but this mouth rinse cuts the bad odour or taste in the mouth and keeps it quite fresh for a long time.  The Oral B toothbrush was a soft brush but firm at getting the job done.

Crest Pro-Health Gets 5 out of Five Stars on all the tests on all 3 products
Quality of the Product

I would highly recommend trying these products to see for your self the extra wonderful clean that your mouth will feel.
Thank you Crest Pro-Health and my mouth thanks you!!
